Finding a free WordPress blog theme or magazine theme that been professionally coded and won’t cause more problems than it solves can be a right pain at times, especially where there’s always a thousand search results of blog posts listing free themes from 2014 every time you try to find one.

Accordingly here’s a list of resources where they release free WordPress themes that has new and updated themes that are modern and can be used for a variety of magazine and blog sites.

WordPress Theme Directory

An obvious choice but it shouldn’t be overlooked, you can often find some great options in the official WordPress theme directory from some very talented developers. For example, I see the Hueman theme being used pretty often anymore which can be downloaded from here.

AlxMedia Themes

These themes are developed by Alexander Agnarson, while the name might not sound familiar he offers some fantastic free (and paid) WordPress themes. He’s also the original developer of the Hueman WordPress theme that’s so popular, and though it seems he sold the right to a third party he has plenty more options available.
